In the last unit, we learn about Romans and I am going to took abut them.Roman civilization started with the city of Rome. This peninsula is in the centre of the Mediterranean, it is a strategic location and enabled the Romans to extend their territories on three continents: Europe, Asia and Africa.Rome conquered all the territories on the Italian Peninsula.
Rome territories stretched north to south from the British Isles to the Sahara Desert and east to west from Mesopotamia to the Iberian Peninsula. The Romans spread their language, Latin, their laws, and their way of life.
In Rome there were:
First, Monarchy.
Then, Republic.
And the last, Roman Empire.

                                                       Monarchy

In the 1st centuries, Rome was governed by a king, that was chosen by the patricians, the king was helped by the senate an assembly formed by senators, who were the heads of the leading families. In the 6th century BC, Rome was conquered by the Etruscans, the Romans fought against them and eventually defeated them.In 509 BC, a rebellion dethroned Lucius Tarquinus Superbus, the last Etruscan king.

                                                 Republic

After the expulsion of the Etruscans, a new form of government was established, a Republic.
There were 3 main institution:
-Comitias
-Magistratus
-Senate
                                            Roman Empire

In 27 BC, Octavian became known as Augustus, which meant `chosen by the gods´.First, he eliminated his enemies and pacified the situation. Then, he introduced a new form of goverment: the Empire.
